The main star of the show. A Saiyan from the planet Vegeta and the son of Bardock, he is sent to Earth as an infant so he can prepare the planet to be sold (i.e, kill off everyone on the planet). Like all Saiyans, he has the ability to change into a huge gorilla-like beast when there is a full moon. However, when he was young his tail falls out, and he is no longer able to change into the demonic creature. He could have easily eliminated all life on Earth, but he hit his head when he was young and forgot his mission. He now fights for the side of good, as the brainwashing had now been cured. Goku married Chi-Chi, daughter of Ox king; and together they had two sons, Gohan and Goten. He is a 3rd class Saiyan, but is still one of the strongest characters in the sereis. He is a very nice person, and in the orginal series many times he was proven to have a pure heart. He has a love for food, which is shared with many other characters in the show.

Son of Goku, he is trained by Piccolo and thus imitates him. Although he has the potential to become the most powerful being in the universe, he can be beaten because he cannot fully utilize his strength yet. Unlike Goku, his tail was never surgically removed, so he is still capable of turning into a Saiyan under the light of a full moon. He later marries Videl, and has a daughter named Pan.

Goten is the second son of Goku and Chi-Chi. He and Trunks spend most of their time together, and are very good friends. Goten exhibited high power when he went Super Saiyan at the age of seven. He bears a very strong resemblance of Goku. Goten has the same hair that Goku has, he also wears a miniture version of Goku's karate Gi. Goten is usually happy, but has a specialty for throwing tantrums to get something he wants.

Chi-Chi is mother to Gohan and Goten and the spouse of Goku. She feels very strongly about Gohan's studies and will stop at nothing to get him to continue his work. Chi-Chi's father is the Ox-King. She mainly spends her time worrying about Gohan's academics. Chi-Chi is very uptight, but she makes a good story, and a good "Mom".

Bulma is the second character (after Goku) to be introduced into the Dragon Ball series. She hits Goku (and the fish he was carrying) while driving through the woods, searching for the mystical "Dragonballs." She eventually persuades Goku to come along with her, and thought that he would make a good bodyguard. Bulma has blue hair, and is the mother of Trunks and Bra with Vegita. She is a genius with all sorts of electronics, alien and domestic.

Sent to planet Earth when his homeworld Namek was about to be hit by a comet, Kami-Sama created the Dragonballs on the planet. Kami is a genius and posesses great and mystical power. He wanted to be pure good and so he purged his evil and 'impure' side. Unfortunately, when this happened, his bad side became a new form, named Piccolo-Daimao. They have a spiritual link, so if one of the two dies, both of them die. As the guardian of Earth and creator of the Dragonballs on Earth, Kami plays a key role in the story. He later combines with Piccolo to become Kamiccolo during the Cell Games for a power boost, and then Dende took his place as Kami so the Dragonballs would still exist.

Kuririn is the most powerful human on Earth, although his power is still dwarfed by Goku and Gohan. He was once Goku's rival when they were young, but they later became best friends. He is a Buddhist monk, and shaves his head by choice. (He does grow some hair later in the series though) Kuririn is willing to sacrifice his life for Earth, and whenever possible he is at Goku's side. He later marries Android 18, and has a daughter named Marron.

One of the first characters to appear in the series, Yamucha was originally Goku's enemy, but soon became friends with him. Yamucha is characterized by a constantly changing hairstyle and an intense fear of women. (at least at the beginning) He was somewhat of an important character during the first series but less so in the second, being the weakest of all the Z fighters. He and Krillin are the only human Z fighter unless you count Trunks and all of the other half Saiyan kids because they are half breeds. He loves to impress the women especially Bulma but always messes up. He also got his awesome sports cruiser destroyed in Tree Of Might, sucks for him.

The Ox-King appears here and there throughout the series. His first appearance is back in Dragonball. Ox-King knows Roshi because he trains with Gohan (Goku's Foster Grandfather) when he is still a pupil of his. He says that they always competing with each other. Ox-King occasionally pops up during the series but not that much. Usually we'll see him getting verbally abused by his own daughter.

Pan, also known as Pan-Chan, is Goku's granddaughter. She is the most powerful female in all of Dragonball. Pan makes her first appearance in the first episode of Dragonball Z, she is about 4 or so. Pan is 1/4 Sayain, and she is Gohan and Videl's daughter. Pan gets her name, Pan-Chan, because "chan" in Japanese means "cute", as in young. She does not seem to resent the name. Pan also refuses to refer to Trunks as Trunks-san ("san" is a Japanese suffix of respect for elders). Pan is also very adventurous, and can get into trouble, usually with Trunks and Goten. Goten, Trunks, and Pan go everywhere together, she is almost like the little sister they never had.

The Piccolo in the DBZ series is the sole offspring of Piccolo-Daimao from the original. Like his father, his intentions are evil. However, when a greater evil, Raditz, threatens the Earth, he turns to the side of good and helps Goku. He later trains Gohan and the kid becomes the only person that Piccolo cares for. Capable of regenerating body parts and manipulating his size and shape, Piccolo is a formidable fighter. He later combines back with Kami to become Kamiccolo during the Cell Game for a major power boost.

Tenshinhan, also known as Tien, is an Earthling warrior. He is about Goku's height and pretty muscular. Tien also has three eyes, two normal eyes, and then one stranger looking eye on the top of his head. Tien is good friends with Chao-Zu, he is also his bodyguard. Tien is the developer of the technique known as the Solar Flare (a fantasically bright like that is formed by fanning one's hands across their face). The "three-eyed man", even though he is not shown often, still plays a decent roll in DragonBallZ.

Is the little flying guy. What is he? He does not look human. He looks a lot like a doll. It was awesome when he hit Gregory with the mallet. He is one of my favorites. He has a lot of guts especially when he did that kamikaze attack to Nappa. For such a little guy he is pretty brave and strong. He is friends with Tenshinhan.

Trunks is the first child of Vegeta and Bulma. There are two Trunks in the DB universe. "Future Trunks" comes from a parallel universe 14 years in the future where evil androids rule the Earth. He goes back in time after the death of Freeza to prepare the Z warriors for the androids' arrival. So as not to prevent his own birth, he tells no one of his heritage, except Goku. "Chibi Trunks" is born after Future Trunks returns to his own time. He likes to hang out with Goten and they are very good friends. When he and Goten are together, Trunks has a tendency to get them in trouble. Trunks is also sad that he does not have a brother like Goten does (Gohan). Trunks has purple hair and displays extreme levels of power, Trunks reached Super Saiyan when he was eight. Despite Trunks' ability to get Goten and himself in trouble, he means well.

Using the Fusion, Goten and Trunks can fuse into Gotenks. Gotenks is very powerful, second only to Gohan and Vegitt, and also is the only character other than Goku that can change to Super Saiyan 3. However, he has a huge ego which gets him in trouble. He is a rather large man. Gotenks is often used as comic relief as well.

Born on the planet bearing his own name, Vegeta has the bloodline to become a super-elite sayain. A henchman of Freeza, he is regarded as one of the greatest fighters in the universe. Along with Goku, Radditz, and Nappa, Vegeta is one of the only Saiyans to survive the destruction of their homeworld. He later marries Bulma and has two children with her: Trunks and Bra. He is extremely jealous of Goku's superior fighting ability, and actually helps him from time to time so that he still has someone to compete with. Vegeta craves nothing more then ultimate power. Despites his efforts to show otherwise, Vegita has changed and has developed a conscience, and deep down cares about his friends. Furthermore, he is also somewhat emotional at heart. He demonstrates this when dealing with his son Trunks, most notably just before he died trying to kill Majin-Buu. Although he pretends to hate Goku with a passion in reality he respects his power and maybe even likes him a bit. In the GT series he is only able to reach Super Saiyan Level 4 by using a device Bulma made called the Brute Ray.

Bojack is a very strong villian and is not to be taken lightly. Bojack wears a bandanna and his skin is a blue-green color. He is the main villian is movie 9. Bojack hi-jacks a martial arts contest and the end result is beating up the Z fighters. Gohan is pratically dead, and Bojack was not having serious difficulty when the laws of the after-world were broken. Goku could not stand his son being beaten up so badly, so he teleports to Gohan. He tells Gohan to use all of his hidden strength after given Bojack a good whack in the face. Gohan then swiftly beats Bojack and his lackies.

Buu is a demon created 300 years ago by the dark mage Bibidi. He is a creature of pure evil and who's only goal is killing. The 5 overgods of the universe (Kaioshins) attempted to destroy him and some what succeded. After 3 Kaiohshin died, the leader uses the Potara Fusion earrings to become a permanent part of him, this made the creature known as Buubuu. The remaining Kaioshin send the demon towards a certain random planet. 300 years later Babidi son of Bibidi wants to revive Buu. All of Buu's evil is ejected from his body to form a thin version of himself called Majin Buu. Majin Buu fights and absorbs the other Buu to become Super Majin Buu; this creature is totally evil and destroys the entire population of Earth with his "Genocide" attack. After destroying the earth, Majin Buu, Goku, Vegeta, and Fat Buu (who was eventualy spit out by Buu) fight on King Kai's planetoid. Goku finally destroys him with his Genki Dama (spirit bomb). However, He is later reincarnated as Uubu, a good person who trained by Goku.

A powerful enemy that comes into play later in the sereis. Cell is Dr. Gero's "Ultimate Artificial Human." He is completely organic, made up of the cells of Goku, Vegita, Piccolo, and Freeza, all collected during their various battles on Earth by a spy robot. He is more powerful than Goku when Goku is in his best health. Cell is one of Dr. Gero's androids which travels back in time from the future. Cell is in many ways very similar to Goku, in that he lives to fight strong opponents. Cell likes to fight, he even encourages Goku to eat Senzu beans (magical beans that restore one's health instantly) so they could continue to battle. He has a long tail with which he can absorb humans and take their energy. If he absorbs #17 or #18, then he changes his shape and gets a huge power up. If he manages to absorb both, then he goes "Kanzentai," his perfect form. He manages to do this and becomes so powerful that none of the Z fighters can come even close. Hoping to have a fun battle, he holds the "Cell Game," a tournament like the Tenkaichi-Budokai. He says that if nobody can beat him in a one-on-one fight, he will destroy the Earth. Goku tries to beat Cell but could not, so he makes Gohan fight him instead. Gohan manages to kill Cell, but not before Cell kills Goku.

Dodoria is one of Freeza's bodyguard warriors. Dodoria is a huge pink fighter who shows absolutely no mercy to those weaker than him. Although he is fairly strong for the time he is around, he is no match for Vegeta. He also tends to only pick on people weaker than him, such as Dende, and the other Nameks.

Dr. Wheelo is the main villian in the Dragonball Z movie, World's Strongest. He is a genius brain that had been preserved by his loyal assistant. He planned to get himself transfered into the strongest body in the world, which he thought was that of Master Roshi, but in fifty years, Goku became the strongest. He held Goku captive, hoping to be able to transfer his knowledge into Goku's body. Dr. Wheelo, in his mech form, is more powerful than the Z fighters combined. However, he later gets killed by Goku’s Sprit Bomb

One of the most powerful warriors in the universe, he runs a group of criminals who clear life from habitable planets and then sell the worlds to the highest bidder. He was the major bad guy for nearly eight manga volumes and roughly 40 TV episodes, and the actual fight against Freeza was the longest, most drawn-out battle in the entire series. Already untouchable in the universe, he wants to make his power everlasting. Freeza owns a large fortress where his many men are stationed, including the powerful Ginyu Force. He has 4 forms, each more powerful then the previous one.

Five very powerful warriors, they are the elite fighters of Freeza. Each one has a power level comparable to Vegeta's (with the exception of Gerudo, he has a much lower one), and they all have powers unique to each in the group. Guldo is able to freeze time; Burter is extremely fast; Rikum is physically strong; Jese is another apt warrior; and Captain Ginyu is the leader of the bunch. Although eccentric at times, they are very capable at completing their missions. Also, most of the members have many different ways of spelling their names. I've seen about 5 for Rikum and and Jese, and 2 for Burter.

Nappa is Vegeta's partner when they come to Earth. His power level (at the time) is far greater than any of the Z fighters. Nappa is, along with Vegeta, an Elite class Sayain. He is very tall and very buff, especially in comparison to his partner. Nappa is also very stubborn, and not very smart. This makes Vegeta angry. Once Nappa is crippled by Goku, Vegeta kills him, in honor of the Sayajins.

The weakest of the surviving Saiyans, he is ordered to check on Goku and see why Earth was not ready to be sold yet. Finding that Goku had forgotten his mission, he kidnapps Gohan. Although at that time Raditz's power level is greater then that of Goku or Piccolo, his ignorance allows him to be defeated.

Ah yes, the incredibly lame villain from the even lamer DBZ Movie 4, "Super Sayian Son Goku". I really hated this movie but that's besides the point. Slug is a mutant Nameckian who doesn't even know that he was originally from the planet Nameck. He's the Emperor of a frozen, sun-less mobile planet. Unforunately at the beginning of the movie, Slug's planet nearly collides with Earth, and to save the Earth, they destroy their planet. The price for such a "noble" cause isn't all that easy to swallow though. Slug wants to make Earth his new planet. Near the middle of the movie, his men manage to collect all 7 Dragon Balls and Slug makes a wish to gain his youth back, (he's pretty old). With that accomplished, he continues his conquest of Earth, unfortunately he picked a planet with Piccolo and Goku on it. In the end of the movie he's finally killed by the Genki Dama.

Turlis is one of the saiyans. He does not get much credit though. He is the main bad guy in "Tree of Might" he looks like an exact duplicate of Goku since they are extremely close kin. He plants the tree of might so he can get the energy it saps to make him near invincible. Surprise, surprise his plan fails. He reminds me of Freeza because they both are the leaders of fighting squadrons who in the end fail. We will not list the names of all the people in his little wannabe Ginyu Force becuase they are not noteworthy. The show severely contradicts itself because they say several times that their was only 4 saiyans but Turlis makes 5. He is powerful except gets killed by Goku in the long run by underestimating the powers of good and the power of a Super Spirit Bomb. I heard from a friend that Turlis later comes back in the series, but I do not know. If anyone can confirm Turlis's fate, please email me!

Zarbon is Freeza's right hand man. He is somewhat of a flamboyant pretty-boy, but has the power to back it up. He's extremely powerful, and when he is outmatched, he has the ability to transform into a huge, brutally strong monster. First time he and Vegita fought, Zarbon beat the crap out of the high and mighty prince of Sayians. But after Vegita healed, he killed Zarbon very easily.

Deaths- In Movie 8, Brolly is killed by Gokou after he absorbs all of the energy from Piccolo, Trunks, Gohan and Vegita. In Movie 10, it takes the Perfect Kame Hame Ha to beat him, (which is Goten, Gohan and Gokou all performing a Kame Hame Ha at once), including help from Trunks. In Movie 11 he uh.......gets solidfied by rain........

Burori "Brolly"- Brolly, in my opinion, is God of the movie villains. He is, without a doubt, the baddest MFer of all time. Brolly is the Legendary Super Sayian in the movie story-line only. On the day of his birth he had a power level of 10,000, and his power would only increase with age. He is killed by order of King Vegita as he would be a threat to the King's power, not to mention the fact that he would outshine Prince Vegita. But before Brolly is killed, he undergoes a traumatic experience. In the crib next to him is another Sayian born on the same day as him. The baby is a low-level warrior with a pathetic power level, however, the baby has a strong will and begins to cry and thrash about in his crib. His tantrum is so violent that it frightens Brolly and he cries in fear. When two Sayian are born on the same day, and one dominates the other, it's said that the baby forced to cry will harbor an immense hatred towards the baby who scared it. For Brolly, the child who made him cry was named Kakarotto.

Brolly is the main villain in DBZ Movies 8, 10 and 11, (but 11's so horrible I don't even count it). In the movie story-line, Brolly is the strongest Sayian of all time. It's next to impossible to beat him one on one. In my personal opinion, only someone as powerful as Super Vegitto would have been able to take Brolly on by theirself, and that's saying a lot. Brolly is capable of being controlled by his father's mind-altering device, but when he sees Goku, a huge rage overcomes Brolly and he breaks free of his father's device. His ultimate purpose is simply to kill Goko. His insane rage eventually only enables him to say, "Kakarotto", in Movie 10. In Movie 8 he seems to be at least somewhat in control of his actions and he comes out with some REALLY cool lines. For instance, Goku fires a huge Kame Hame Ha at Brolly from point blank range, (literally a foot from him). When the blast clears, Brolly is still standing un-phased, he laughs and says, "What the Hell was that supposed to be?".

In movie 11, Brolly comes back, er, his clone comes back. His name is Baio Burori "Bio Brolly". Bio Brolly wins my vote for the lamest movie villain ever in DBZ Movie 11. He looks EXACTLY like the Swamp Thing with pieces of corn sticking out of his head. Which is really ashame considering the animators could have made him look really cool. Anyway, let me explain why he looks so wierd. Jyaga made a clone of Brolly, WHICH LOOKED PERFECTLY FINE, but when Bio Brolly awakens, the scientists try to contain him with a type of flesh-eating sludge. Well, it turns out, the stuff has absolutely no effect on Brolly. It just melts his skin, and turns green when it solidifies on him, making him look retarded. So anyway Goten, Trunks, Number 18 and Kuririn fight him for a bit, and the movie could have been saved if he had a cool death....but of course he didn't. He's stopped by.....rain. Which to everyone's surprise magically solidifies the sludge. Sigh. That's what happens when people try to milk something for too long. The Brolly movies should have ended with DBZ Movie 10.

Is the son of guess who, Garlic. He is one of the only people who is granted immortality. He is the prime evil in Deadzone. Once he is granted immortality he turns humongous and a million times more powerful. He beats the bejeesus out of Goku and Piccolo but then he gets blasted with an awesome kamaya maya like thing from both of them and they think he is dead. He then gets up from the rubble he is in and creates a Deadzone. A deadzone is like a black hole that sends you to another dimension forever. Like everybody, he underestimates the power of a pissed off saiyan and gets his butt kicked by Gohan. Gohan killed him without even touching him. Gohan powered up to an extremely high level and the sonic wave things knocked him into the deadzone. He still lives on though he is just trapped in another dimension. He comes back after the Freeza saga when Goku is still in space. He once again tries to get revenge on Kami, and once again Gohan knocks him in the Dead Zone he made.
